Introduction: With globalization, nursing faces the imperative need to improve its routines to ensure proficient care. In this regard, qualified care requires the careful handling of efficient metrics in the assessment of results. Objective: To analyze studies that reference indicators used by nurses to leverage qualified care in nursing wards. Materials and Methods: Integrative review, selecting articles from reliable digital sites during April 2025. Two reviewers conducted the screening independently, and any discrepancies were resolved by consensus after discussion. The selection included articles in English, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese that were freely available, complete, without time restrictions, and dealt exclusively with hospital wards. Results: The review lists 14 published articles, 29% of which are Brazilian. After analysis, five categories emerged: Continuous Training and Education; Assertive Communication and Structured Feedback; Underreporting and Institutional Culture; Applicability of Performance Metrics; and Work Environment and Staffing Levels. Discussion: Indicators are metrics perceived by nurses as an important strategy that qualifies and ensures care. However, setbacks in communication and in the analysis of reported errors deteriorate the culture surrounding safety at the institutional level. Conclusion: The experience of nurses must be consistent with educational processes. Furthermore, performance measurement, carried out through the application of indicators, represents a successful strategy in ensuring effective care and continuous improvement of workflows.
