Introduction: Intensive Care Units (ICUs) are critical hospital environments, in which cleaning and disinfection of beds are essential for the prevention of Healthcare- Associated Infections (HAIs). These procedures must be performed by trained professionals and based on the best available evidence, with support from specialized guidelines. Objective: to analyze the health education strategies used to promote adequate cleaning and disinfection of beds in ICUs. Methodology: integrative literature review carried out in the electronic databases: MEDLINE/PubMed, CINAHL, LILACS, SCOPUS, WEB OF SCIENCE and EMBASE. The study period ran from January to July 2024, in accordance with PRISMA recommendations. Original studies, available in full, in all languages, without year restriction, that addressed the proposed theme were included. Results: Of the 298 publications, 34 were initially selected and 8 met the study inclusion criteria. From the analysis, the following thematic category emerged: Health education as an ally in the process of cleaning and disinfecting ICU beds and measures associated with safe care. Discussion: Health education is a powerful tool, incorporating ongoing and permanent education actions, promoting reflections and practices aimed at qualifying the cleaning and disinfection of hospital beds. Final considerations: It is concluded that health education strengthens the integration between theory and practice, contributing to better results in intensive care, with regard to cleaning and disinfection of beds.
